About...
The Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (BCCP) is part of the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Project (NBCCEDP), administered at the federal level by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The Ohio Department of Health administers the grant for the State of Ohio; the state is divided into 11 regions. The administrative office for Region Six is located at the Columbus Health Department. Region Six includes Delaware, Fairfield, Fayette, Franklin, Licking, Madison, Pickaway and Union Counties. The purpose of BCCP is to reduce mortality from breast and cervical cancer due to late detection. BCCP provides breast and cervical cancer screening, diagnostic testing and linkage to BCCP Medicaid. The role of BCCP is to cover the cost of mammograms and Pap test for eligible women. The services provided by the BCCP are not performed at the Columbus Public Health. Providers in Delaware, Fairfield, Fayette, Franklin, Licking, Madison, Pickaway and Union Counties perform the services the program funds. BCCP staff provides enrollment and scheduling of services. BCCP staff make any necessary referrals, ensure linkage to treatment and provide navigational support with medical health care systems. Collaboration with community partners helps to reduce barriers to care.
