The Injury Prevention Program is designed to work with parents and caregivers to reduce the risk of injury and death to children ages newborn to 18. We use many approaches for increasing public awareness, providing education, and advocating for behavioral change.
Program Services
Car Seat Program This program is designed to provide car seats, at a reduced cost, to families in need. Car Seat Checks This program is designed to assist families, who already have car seats, install them properly. We have many “Fitting Stations” in and around Columbus where families can take their car seats to be checked. More Car Seat Check Locations Delaware County - Delaware General Health District Bike Safety This program is designed to educate and provide bike helmets to people at a low cost. Fire Safety This program provides smoke alarms to residents of Columbus for at a cost of $5.00 Home Safety We work together with Action For Children and Children's Hunger Alliance in the inspection of childcare homes to insure all homes are safe for children to live and play.

Cost
Car Seats – Based on income with a minimum $30 charge for each seat Car Seat Checks – These are free to the public Bike Helmets – Cost for helmet is $10.00 Smoke Alarms – Cost for smoke alarm is $5.00 Home Safety – Cost of inspection is $30.00
Location
All services are provided at the Columbus Health Department. Car seat checks are held at various locations and clients can call to find a location near you.
