About...
The purpose of the program is to prevent the spread of communicable disease through immunizations. The goal is to have 90% of Franklin County residents immunized by the year 2010. The current Franklin County rate is 87%. However, there are areas in the community where the rate is 50% or lower. It is these areas where the program is focusing on education and outreach, in addition to clinic services.
Program Services
The Immunization Program administers over 30,000 doses of vaccine per year to children and adults. There are Walk In Clinics at two different sites that include evening and Saturday hours for the convenience of the public. The program provides education about immunizations to the general public through presentations, brochures, and health fairs. We also provide education to physician offices through the Maximized Office Based Immunization Program (MOBI) and do immunization rate assessments for physician offices through the Clinical Assessment Software Application (CASA). Members of the Immunization Program participate in Project Love and the Adult Immunization Action Coalition.
Who Is The Program For?
Any resident of Franklin County is eligible for immunizations. Speakers about communicable disease prevention are available for non-profit organizations, and immunization information speakers are available to any practitioner who administers immunizations.
How To Use The Program
Immunizations are administered on a “first-come, first-served” basis at any time the clinic is open. MOBI's and/or CASA's and other educational programs may be scheduled through the AFIX Coordinator. All Columbus Health Department Immunization nurses are excellent resources and welcome questions. See below for contact information.
Cost
Medicaid, Medicare Part B, CareSource, or United Health Care cards are accepted for reimbursement of vaccine cost. These cards are accepted if coverage for the client is active at time of service. These cards must be presented at time of service. United Health Care clients will be charged the co-pay at the time of service. Adults on Medicaid may need to have a prescription for certain vaccines. No credit or debit cards are accepted. Vaccine Costs | | |
