May 14, 2008

Welcome to the Columbus Public Health, Heart Health Network Physical Activity Challenge. Being active can help you in so many ways by:

  • Raising your level of energy
  • Helping your heart and lungs become stronger
  • Helping you control your weight and appetite
  • Improving your blood flow Active Seniors
  • Improving your mood and lowering your stress

It’s a great day to start moving and get you heart pumping!

This is the year that we challenge you to be physically active at least three days a week for 30 minutes (or more) total each day.  This can easily be done in one 30 minute block of time, or you can break it up into smaller blocks that add up to 30 minutes total. Track your activity and watch your success add up.

We have partnered with Columbus Health Works and the Winner’s League Foundation to provide you with an easy way to track your activity. So grab your friends, family, and co-workers and let’s get started!

Here is how it works?

  1. Register for the challenge at www.columbushealthworks.com website and click on the Healthy Heart, Healthy You logo.
  2. Enter your name, email address, and create a personal password for the site.
  3. Choose some form of physical activity to do for a total of 30 minutes, or more.  This can be walking, jogging, biking, swimming, etc. When you complete the activity, log the date, type of activity and time on the website.
  4. Watch your success add up! The box on the right will tell you how many hours you have completed for the month.

Join us and let’s get moving COLUMBUS!
