No alert issued currently. Sometimes an air-quality alert is issued because ozone or particulate levels are high enough to be harmful to: - people with asthma, emphysema, chronic heart and other respiratory conditions,
- children
- older adults
- anyone is outside for longer periods of time, especially doing strenuous activity
Health effects include: - Shortness of breath
- eye, throat, and nasal irritation
- coughing
- chest tightness
During such an alert, health officials at Columbus Public Health advise everyone to avoid strenuous outdoor activity and to reduce the amount of time they spend outdoors during this alert.
