Announcement
Color Coded Signs
March 29, 2007
Color-Coded Signage System Columbus Public Health gives the public access to public information that is easy to read and understand on the current inspection or enforcement status of: restaurants - markets
- public pools and spas
- body art studios
- manufactured home parks
- solid waste facilities
- campgrounds
- other licensees
Currently, information on retail food businesses licensed by Columbus Public Health is available to the public on-line. The “color-coded” signage system informs consumers what stage of the inspection or enforcement process the licensed facility is currently in. Honor Awards The system honors licensees that have an exemplary record with Columbus Public Health, with the Healthier, Safer People Honor Award – recognizing no critical violations for one full year.
The Color-Coded System Licensees are provided color coded signage to post at their businesses: - Green - standards were met during inspection
- Yellow – licensed facility in the enforcement process
- Red - closed to protect the public from health risks
- White - placed on probation by the Board of Health
Columbus Public Health's goal is to help inform residents of the inspection or enforcement status of licensed businesses to help reduce food, blood and water borne illnesses in our communities, helping businesses offer the healthiest, safest product/services to their customers. In an effort to seek input from interested parties, Columbus Public Health held public hearings on January 10, at Columbus Public Health’s 240 Parsons Avenue campus.
