The Columbus Health Department is committed to providing high quality services for all Columbus and Franklin County residents. 

Our expectation is that all our services are provided in a professional and friendly way, and with respect to the different languages and cultures of our residents. 

You have the right to have language interpretation.

  • Language interpretation Services are available with all Health Services.  See Health Department staff for assistance.

If you do not speak and understand English well enough to understand and take part fully in the health care services you are here to receive, the law says that you have the right to have professional language interpretation services provided for you.

  • At no cost to you.
  • Written information needed for you to receive services should be translated.
  • If you refuse the services of a professional interpreter, you may use a family member or friend.
  • You may not use children under the age of 18 years to interpret for you. 

We offer a wide variety of services.

The Columbus Health Department provides a wide variety of health care services for children and adults, as well as birth certificates for individuals born in Columbus and Franklin County and death certificates for individuals who have died in Columbus and Franklin County.  

The Columbus Health Department also provides a variety of community health services including for example, animal bite reporting and mosquito control. If you are thinking of opening a restaurant small or large, see the Food Safety  & Licensing section the Service Directory.
