Fire Safety Printer Friendly version of this page

Each year, hundreds of Ohioans are injured or killed by the ravages of fire. Additionally, fires that destroy people's homes and property cost millions of dollars every year.

Fire Facts

  • There is a fire in someone's home every 30 minutes.
  • The number one cause of fire deaths that happen at home are related to smoking.
  • More people die in fires each year than from all natural disasters combined.

Low Cost Smoke Alarms

A working smoke alarm saves lives. The Columbus Health Department offers smoke alarms to families at a cost of $5.00 each.

Call our Hotline at 614-645-7748 for more information.
