The Public Health Learning Series is designed to enhance competencies among the public health workforce by the promotion and facilitation of professional growth.  A variety of topics have been selected for presentation utilizing educational needs surveys, recognizing current practice trends, and identifying emerging public health needs.

Educational opportunities may be presented as lectures, seminars, or workshops. The Columbus Health Department is equipped with satellite technology, allowing us to present a number of live satellite broadcasts by nationally recognized speakers.

All presentations are evaluated for meeting the criteria for continuing education units as set forth by State of Ohio nursing, social work, registered sanitarian, dietitian and dental governing bodies. Certificates are awarded for attending the entire session and returning a completed evaluation form.

Continuing Education Credits:

Nursing -  The Columbus Health Department (OH-075) is an approved provider of continuing education by the Ohio Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation (OBN-001-91). Provider status valid through 6/1/06.

Social Work -  The Columbus Health Department is an approved provider (RSX 059004) of social work continuing education by the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapist Board.

Dental -  The Columbus Health Department Community Dental Program is approved as a Permanent Sponsor of Continuing Education by the Ohio State Dental Board.

Sanitarian -  The Columbus Health Department is an approved provider for Registered Sanitarian continuing education credit for environmental health professionals from the Ohio State Board of Sanitarian Registration Board.
