The Infectious Disease Division addresses infectious disease health threats that threaten both the health of the individual and the community.  These threats can range from childhood diseases such as measles and new emerging diseases such as SARS.

The Division's programs focus on prevention, treatment and control.  Prevention activities range from education to immunizations.  Treatment activities include screening and diagnosis for sexually transmitted diseases, lab testing, providing medication and follow up.  Control functions focus on stopping further transmission of disease through screening, counseling and other interventions.
